HORIBA EMIA line of carbon and sulfur analyzers
Direct response

The HORIBA EMIA line combines carbon and sulfur analyzers by oxygen combustion and NDIR detection. EMIA-Pro and EMIA-Expert use high-frequency induction furnace; EMIA-Step uses tubular electric resistance furnace with programmable temperature up to 1450 °C.

Highlights

Combustion by matrix and analytical range

The family combines routine throughput, low concentration performance and thermal control for applications that require separating fractions released in different stages.

01

From ppm to percent levels

Specific bands by model and element, with platforms dedicated to C/S, C or S.

02

Typical cycle of 70 s

Published value for EMIA-Pro and EMIA-Expert, including measurement, result and cleaning.

03

Automatic cleaning

In Pro and Expert models, the combustion region is clean within the cycle flow.

04

Guided software

Analysis, maintenance, troubleshooting, self-diagnosis and alarms in an integrated interface.

Measurement principle

How C/S analysis works

01 · DOSAGEM

Preparation

The sample is weighed in the appropriate consumable. Pro/Expert use crucibles and accelerators; Step uses combustion boat.

02 · COMBUSSION

Oxidation

Combustion occurs in oxygen by induction of high-frequency or in a controlled tubular furnace.

03 · TRATAMENTO

Conditioning

Dust and moisture are removed or controlled before detection.

04 · NDIR

Quantification

CO, CO2 and SO2 are measured to calculate carbon and sulfur.

Frequently Asked Questions

HORIBA EMIA — technical information

What is the HORIBA EMIA line?

It's a family of carbon and sulfur analyzers. The sample is burned on oxygen and the gases generated are measured by NDIR.

What is the difference between EMIA-Pro and EMIA-Expert?

Both use induction and have a typical 70-second cycle. Expert starts in smaller concentrations, provides greater accuracy and brings together advanced purification and filtering capabilities.

What is EMIA-Step used for?

Step program the ambient temperature up to 1450 °C for total analysis and to observe fractions that decompose or burn at different temperatures.

Can EMIA be automated?

Pro and Expert can receive automatic sampler for loading and disposal of up to 20 crucibles, as set.
